To commemorate Google’s 15th birthday, Pew Internet released Friday results of a survey conducted in April and May showing that 56 percent of Internet users have used search engines to “look up their own name to see what information is available about them online.”
That’s up from 22 percent in 2001 when Pew first asked that question, but slightly down from the 57 percent of users who said they had searched for themselves in 2009. Don’t like what you see when you Google yourself? The search giant offers tips on how to manage your online reputation.
Google offers a “Me on the Web” feature that allows you to receive a notification whenever information about you, such as an email address or phone number, is published online. Read more…
